JOY CLOKE

Grief & Loss
I am a qualified counsellor specializing in the areas of grief and loss. This includes young people and adults who suffer with anxiety, depression and trauma pertaining to any type of loss experience whether it be divorce, loss of income or dreams. I am a person-centered therapist and my expertise include logotherapy and existential thinking.
I mainly became interested in the counselling field because I had a deep need to make sense of who I was. My own journey with grief began many years ago and I have since embarked on my own path of growth and transcendence to a new awareness of reality, self and the world. Grief is a psychospiritual process and also an opportunity for transformation - whilst it may not feel like that in the beginning - the gift that it offers is the capacity to see deeply into the way things are.
Logotherapy is a meaning-centered approach to therapy and is primarily concerned with the 'search for purpose and meaning'. It is founded on the premise that we are all faced with elements of death, guilt and unavoidable suffering. My work thus involves guiding you along anxiety-provoking situations through self-expression, help with relationships, defining and re-defining who you are, as well as your interactions with others and the environment.
I have experience working with adults and adolescents in different settings.
When I'm not working I enjoy spending time outdoors, running and cycling with my son and partner. I live close to the sea and it provides a special place of healing for me.
